Workshop: Sparking the Flame – Using Novelty and Surprise to Set Your Poems Alight!

I’m excited to be running my first workshop in September! It’s an in person workshop at Drawing Projects, a lovely space in Trowbridge, Wiltshire.

Here’s a bit about the workshop!

 

The human brain loves novelty, and whether you’re writing poems or reading them, the unexpected can get the synapses firing! In this fun, interactive prompt-based workshop, we’ll be taking our poems outside of the ordinary to shake up our thoughts and get the ideas flowing. Expect to come away with some surprising drafts!

All you need is a notebook and pen. If you’d like to, please also bring a poem that you’re working on that you feel could benefit from a little spark of inspiration.

Events Coming Up in November

A couple of events coming up where I’ll be moving my lips and poems will come out. If you like that sort of thing.

Firstly, and definitely not about me, on 9th November, I’ll be supporting a double book launch on Zoom – Beth Brooke will be launching Transformations and Pratibha Castle Miniskirts in the Wasteland. We’ll also be joined by Jude Marr, Naomi Foyle and Raine Geoghegan.

Secondly, I’ll be doing a guest slot (kinda headlining) at the lovely Silver Street Poets in Bristol, on Friday 24th November, 12.30-2pm

The event is an open mic, but with a couple of longer sessions from me. I’ll be reading poems from my collection Split, Twist, Apocalypse, as well as some new stuff!

Come along, meet the poets and maybe even read a poem. The event is at St Stephen’s Church, 21 St Stephen’s Street, Bristol BS1 1EQ.
